"The essence of all art is to have pleasure in giving pleasure..."

~Dale Carnegie

Artist's Statement

Art is its own language, and thus I can’t verbalize exactly my intent or vision. However, my goal is to fill the canvas or page as beautifully as possible. I am especially interested in creating both order and mystery. I work constantly in the tension between variety and unity, detail and design, complication and simplicity. Most of all I am concerned with how the viewer will “read” the work, in other words, how his or her eyes will move into and through the space. But finally I want the art to be as interesting and pleasing as possible. And what I hope is that the viewer will experience the same pleasure and excitement I had making the work.
